I guess it would depend on which rolls, but you can go to: http://www.nara.gov/nara/nail.html type in Search For Archival Holdings, then choose Nail standard Search and then type in the surname on the top line and the Tribal Nation on the second line, click search and there on the page you will get instructions on how to order. 3. Vonda, This is a great post! You have a lot of information here. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but I have a suggestion that someone gave me and when a person does for me, I feel the best way to thank them is to do for others, so please take this in the manner it is given - sharing and helping! Anyway, if you will put all your surnames in the "Subject" line with commas (preferrably capital letters), then if someone does a search, it is picked up. This is a search of the list or of the site (like rootsweb), or some of the big search engines will pick this up. Also there is a site called www.spyonit.com which I've used to search for things on the net with my surnames - it sends me a periodic email with all the "hits" on it. It's great! But, I've found some great information and family by placing my surnames on the subject line. Take care and go safely! 1. [IT-INDIAN] Holley/Holley/Hawley
    2. Hi List: Does anyone have information about people named Holley in N.Y. in the 1700's? In the early 1700's, my fifth great grandmother was a Holley. As you know the records for that era are few and far between. Her name was Elizabeth Holley. I believe that her father John was considered a squatter in Orange County, N.Y. around 1713. I have found the surname to be associated with the Mohawk. Elizabeth married Ebenezer Stephens, and they had Issac, William and Jane Stephens. My Janes Stephens married Samuel Smith and they had my Mary Smith who married my James Newberry. James' father John was the witness to John Holley's will. Any good ideas as to where I might get more information about this family? Sue

    1. Re: [IT-INDIAN] Newcomer
    2. Give these sites a try in looking for your ancestors who were not living with the tribe. Also check out Ohio history if you think that they went there. Ohio was Indian Territory in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Many of them hid there (and other places) successfully. Many are ennumerated as white and/or black. It's a difficult triyng to figure out these ties, but also an interesting journey. http://www.genealogy4all.com/index.html Also try http://www.cyndislist.com/native.htm
