My Mother had asthma and was sent from Hounslow,Middlesex to work by her doctor in the 1920s,because of the good climate. She worked at the RNH,Ventnor, where my father who was a builder was also working, they married and the result is me!! The RNH was built for Londoners with a percentage of Islanders allowed to be admitted.Sadly there are many young people who died buried in the local cemeteries, The Botanical gardens there now are a fitting memorial to all the patients and staff,I am so glad that the land was not used for housing, etc. Happy Christmas Valerie
