Hi Everyone, I am new to this list, researching the family of Horatio GODFREY (c.1832-1896). [I'm resending this message as on my previous attempt it appears to have popped up in the middle of a different thread! My apologies.] I have found Horatio GODFREY on the 1861, 1871, 1881, and 1891 censuses, when he was working as a butler in Bath and Bristol. His birthplace is always given as Isle of Wight, and in a couple of cases Cowes is specifically mentioned. From his age on the various census returns he seems to have been born between 1831-1834. Since this was just before registration began I'm finding it difficult to discover more about his parents. Does anyone know if there are indexes to the Isle of Wight censuses for 1841 and 1851? If so, maybe I could find details of his family there? The other possibility would be the parish records for Cowes. Have any of these been published for the period 1800-1837? Any help in discovering more about Horatio GODFREY and his family would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Dave Moore Bristol
