I am new to the list, and saw the cry for those searching for BROWNS. We have been trying to find my great grandmother's birth for some decades now without success. Can anyone throw any light on her?? She was ELLEN BROWN, but according to my grandmother she was originally called AILEEN and her mother was EVA COOPER. Her birthday was 24th August and would have been born in either 1865/6. On Ellen's marriage certificate to FRANK PIPER(Islington 1891) her father is listed as CHARLES BENJAMIN BROWN (Parcels Clerk). The 1891 and 1901 census give her birth place as Ryde, IOW. Any clues, however small would be most gratefully received to help solve the mystery of the woman who married, had eight children and lived with my mother and her family for many years, but apparently was never born!
