<I am new to the list. I am currently researching the Bell Family one time owners of Norris Castle.I have a Sir William Bell any information would be most welcome>. I have not come across a William Bell in connection with Norris - suggest you check standard reference books like Burke's Landed Gentry. Also, if you can access The Times index you may find obituaries or other references. According to Rosetta Brading's book - East Cowes and Whippingham Isle of Wight 1303 - 1914 - Robert Bell bought Norris in 1838. In 1880 Norris was bought from Mr Bell (?not the same Robert - see below) by the 9th Duke of Bedford Robert registered several yachts at Cowes and by 1851 there was a Robert Bell the younger of Norris also registering a yacht in the ship registration records.
