Island list members - and those who visit - may be interested to know that the Reference Library in Newport has signed up to 200 years of The Times Newspaper online - it can be consulted there for free but only by one person at a time. Easily searchable - adverts and all - but a bit slow.
Hi I'm not quite sure if this is exactly the same as Diana has mentioned but to access on line free at the moment as part of National Library Week..... go to http://libraryweek.galedemo.com/history.htm> it brings up, "It's a Thomson-Gale Free-for-All". On the screen you will see a number of resources listed. You click on 'Times Digital Archive' and up comes the Free for All trial site's search facility Search 'Isle of Wight' finds loads of articles. Hi, I tried to use the Times Digital Archive at this site - however when requested to enter library ID, barcode or other ID - each Australian ID that I tried was rejected as 'Invalid authorization password'. Is this trial site (Thomson Gale Free-For-All) meant for those in the UK only? If overseas listers are able to use it, how does one get over the acceptable password problem? Any suggestions would be most welcome, thank you.
