Hello Listers I am new to this list, and I'm taking the suggestion of Keith Elmo Eldridge to introduce myself and my research interest to the List. My name is Sonja Hardingand I live in Ottawa Ontario Canada. My ggGrandfather, John Clinton, was born at Ryde in January, 1840 to Henry Clinton and Margaret (nee Hinchey or Henchey). Henry and Margaret had a daughter named Catharine born in 1838, also at Ryde. I am an amateur genealogist with the following other surname intersts: McWILLIAM, SKEHEN, BRENNAN (in Newfoundland Canada), DELANEY, TOBIN, BRIEN, BENISON, KANE, and LAW. John CLINTON has almost 130 descendants in Canada and the United States. His granddaughters Dorothy Jean and Mollie were photographed in front of the ALCOCK and BROWN Vickers Vimy aircraft in 1919 when they departed for the first transatlantic crossing, which netted the aviators a major prize. If anyone is researching the CLINTON surname I'd welcome any contact. I am particularly interested in locating any information pertaining to Henry Clinton's coastguard service, as well as seeking descendants of Catharine, John's sister.
