I have been reading The Diaries of Thomas Turner 1754 to 1767, which are an excellent way of finding out how rural parishes operated in the eighteenth century. In the Diaries he mentions William Tull from Newport IOW who got Sarah Vinall pregnant and generally inconvenienced the parish of East Hoathly Hoping this helps someone Regards Tony Bevis
