Sally <If the place of death is given as Newport but the burial is Carisbrooke, does this mean the burial was in Newport but in the district of Carisbrooke or does it mean burial at the Church at Carisbrooke?> It could depend on the date and the context. Newport was originally a chapel of ease to Carisbrooke so there could have been a right of sepulchre (burial) at the mother church. Later on parts of Newport town/borough may have been in Carisbrooke parishes depending on the date and whereabouts in the town. Later too, once Church Litten in Newport was a bit crammed, the new cemetery was made at Mountjoy in Carisbrooke parish. Do any of those fit?
