    3. Hello listers Having received no replies from my flood of messages last week, I can only assume that I will get no further, at the moment, with my KINGSWELL tree. My cousin has been working hard with all previous correspondence, and many records. The result has been a suggested tree back to Phillip KINGSWELL who died in 1632. I would like to acknowledge the help received from many correspondents over the years, including some on this list. Thanks to you all. If you have a KINGSWELL connection I would appreciate a call. We may have found a relationship :) My 5 X great-grandfather was William KINGSWELL (born 1729/30 died 1767) married at Godshill in 1760 Mary HODGE (born 1736 died Godshill 1812). They had two sons:- (1) William KINGSWELL my 4 X great-grandfather (baptised 17 August 1760 Godshill Buried 8 April 1793 Arreton) married at Godshill 13 August 1780 Elizabeth MORRELL (Baptised 9 January 1760) (2) James KINGSWELL (baptised 29 January 1763 Godshill died 4 December 1840) married at Carisbrooke 6 April 1789 Sarah NORTON (born 1764 died Godshill 11 March 1816 alternative death date 1844?) If there are any errors in the above information, please let me know. Any information about previous ancestral names MORRELL, HODGE, LONG and WARWICK would be appreciated. Best wishes Shirley Mundy (Mrs) Port Augusta South Australia 5700 _________________________________________________________________ ninemsn Premium transforms your e-mail with colours, photos and animated text. 3. Shirley Sorry you got no replies to your earlier mails, though it was unclear what you were really after (I had no information to offer anyway). In several of the cases mentioned (post 1837) I suggest that with the references you have, presumably obtained through the IOW FHS index, that you obtain copies of the appropriate certificates from the IOW Registrar (the IOW FHS web provides a template and all contact details) which will then hopefully provide the additional details, such as father's names/occupations, potentially witnesses and in some cases the exact place of marriage that will help you progress your family tree. We have communicated about the Kingswells before, and know that we are directly related, since your 5 Great Grandfather is also my 6*Great Grandfather. My 4* Great Grandmother is Hannah Kingswell, daughter of William Kingswell (1760-1793). But her details are somewhat sketchy, as I have been unable to conclusively identify her christening. She did however marry Edward BARNES in 1800 in Shalfleet and went on to have (at least) 11 children, before she died in 1856 (probably of exhaustion, though she would probably have been 76 years old). Their 8th child, Hannah Barnes (1818-1885) is my 3*Great Grandmother and married William RYALL in 1838 (Carisbrooke). I'd be interested to learn more about the ancestry of William Kingswell, since like you this is one of my direct lines.
