    3. Hello everyone, I am new to the list and just posted a query before realising I should have started with an introduction! My link with the IOW is via my g-g-g-grandfather, Charles HUNT, who was baptised at Godshill in 1810. Charles's parents were William HUNT and Jane DEVENISH, and they were married in 1797 at St Lawrence. So far, I haven't been able to trace either of their births, so would be more than grateful for any advice or pointers anybody can offer. Charles married Sarah THOMAS at St Lawrence in 1835, and within a couple of years they had moved to London, where all their children were born. Sarah was born in Swansea in c1820, and I think her parents, James and Sarah THOMAS came to the IOW some time in the 1820s - their 3 youngest children, at least, were born there between 1830-1834. James THOMAS was Chief boatman at the Atherfield Preventive station in 1832, and a Coast Guards Man (of St Lawrence) in 1834. I don't know how long the family stayed on the IOW after 1834, but I hope that customs records will give me some clues. Again, if anybody has any suggestions, I would love to hear them! Looking forward to following the discussions, Kirsty
