    3. I wonder if someone would be kind enough to do a look up of the 1871 census for a friend of mine. She has not joined the list as her ancestors were only on the Island for a short time. I think they originated either in Cheshire or Staffordshire. She has found the birth of a gt.gt. Uncle George Edward Hopkins. He was born in the Godshill district of the Isle of Wight in 1867 and was wondering if someone could check if the family were still there for the 1871 census. The reason for wanting to trace them this way is to find out the age of his mother Eliza Phoebe Hopkins (nee Nock), so that she can then trace her birth to find her mother's maiden name. Eliza's husband, George Richards Hopkins was a schoolmaster and was probably teaching on the Isle of Wight. Maybe Eliza was too.
