    3. Hi List, When my family emigrated - to Tasmania (Australia) we were sponsored by Desmond Thomas "Tom" W. Harding & Anna Marion Harding nee Butcher. My grandmother sent my mother the following clipping from the IOW Mercury, thought you may like to share: From the "Isle of Wight Mercury" Friday, February 3, 1956. Echoes of the Week Almost Mass Emigration! Mr. Fred Cooper and his wife, Beryl, and their three children, David (8), Ronald (6) and Grahame (4) sailed for Southampton on Wednesday on the "New Australia", (formerly the "Monarch of Bermuda"). They formerly lived at Rowanhurst, St. Catherine's Street. The vessel calls at Port Said, Colombo and Freemantle, West Australia and is due into Melbourne on March 1st, 1956. The Cooper's then travel on to Penguin, Tasmania where they will be met by Mr. and Mrs. D. T. W. Harding who left Ventnor in December 1949. Mr. Harding is in the building trade, and Mr. Cooper is joining him, thus going back into his old trade of plumbing and general building. The Cooper family would like to say goodbye to any friends they may have missed seeing personally. Also sailing on the same ship is Mr. J. J. Seth, formerly a master at the Secondary School, and his wife and family. They have been living at Spring Gardens. Readers will join with us in extending best wishes to the two families in their new lives. As reported in our last issue, Mr. Ronald Saunders, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Saunders, St. Lawrence, was due to sail from London yesterday. He is also bound for Tasmania, where he was married in October last. Mr. Saunders is going to take up an engineering appointment. _____________________ Regards, Ron Cooper Land of Oz
