Does anyone know whether there is a history, or at least a leaflet, about Holy Cross church and parish, and if so where I could get a copy? I am particularly interested in knowing whether the LIST shipbuilding family of Fishbourne were benefactors of the church. Fishbourne is in Binstead parish. Several family members, including the master shipbuilder Daniel LIST (1781-1868), are buried in Holy Cross churchyard. Daniel List died relatively wealthy and although he made no bequest to Holy Cross in his will it is possible that he might have provided financial help to the parish in the period, say, 1830-1860.
