<do any records from Carisbrook workhouse exist?> The surviving Isle of Wight House of Industry (or workhouse) records are at the IW Record Office - contact them for details of holdings and research charges if you cannot visit yourself. I don't think there are admission / discharge books for that period but you may pick them up being admitted in the weekly or monthly minute books if they go up to that date. Or the catalogue to the records showing the IWRO holdings for the House of Industry may be on the A2A (Access to Archives - see PRO/National Archives) website. Although in Carisbrooke parish the House of Industry is nowhere near the village - it is at Parkhurst and is now part of St Mary's Hospital on the Newport to Cowes Road.
