Many have occurred since the parish at Newchurch, All Saints, was established in the 11th century. In fact a charming aspect of a visit is to see a well maintained sign near the entrance listing all the vicars since the founding of the parish. Interestingly, all the vicars from that founding through the early 16th century bore French names, telling us a bit about the culture of the times. But be that as it may, the parish is still there and thriving! I'm from the U. S., but I visited it during the summer of 2002 and, as it happened the congregation was preparing for their annual Festival of Flowers (I think that was what they called it). The interior was festooned with flowers of all kinds and the church ladies were busy adding more. >If so are there records available. I met the current vicar, a friend of a friend (for me at least) from Canada, and had lovely chat with him. He showed me all the records that church has now, but they only go back to the early part of the 19th century, if my memory serves me correctly, and are incomplete at that. I believe older records can be had at the IOW Record Office in Newport, I think. Perhaps, someone with more immediate knowledge of the IOW will give better information. >In addition, does it have a cemetary? There probably is a cemetery, but I saw none and sought none, since my own relations are buried in a cemetery in Ventnor, three or four miles to the south. Kelvin Kean Elverson, Pennsylvania US
