Ruth had at least 11 siblings. James was descended from John COOK (-1709) & Ann DAY, who were my gtx6 grand parents. The descent to James was as follows: James COOK (1707-1739) & Mary KING John COOK (1739-) & Jane ARNOLD (1743-1822) James COOK (1765-1828) & Mary DEVENISH (1770-1861) James COOK (1791-1864) The family were mainly fishermen/labourers, including a bit of smuggling, in the Mottistone/Brook area.
