Thank you Dave for the 1871 census records for Benjamin, John and George. I think George was buried at Shalfleet on 31/12/1877 - I have not found him in the 1881 census. I suppose I was being a bit optimistic trying to prove that Benjamin, John and Joseph were brothers when they were already all over 55 years of age. I believe I am not the first person to wrestle with this problem.
