    3. Thank you Dave for the 1871 census records for Benjamin, John and George. I think George was buried at Shalfleet on 31/12/1877 - I have not found him in the 1881 census. I suppose I was being a bit optimistic trying to prove that Benjamin, John and Joseph were brothers when they were already all over 55 years of age. I believe I am not the first person to wrestle with this problem. This is the family as I have patched it together (with lots of help): WOODFORD James(2) of Calborne married Anne SMITH by licence 9 June 1807- Shalfleet. Children: (1) James(3) son of James and Ann privately baptised received 29 5 1808 bap 22November 1807 CAL (2) Benjamin son of James and Ann bap 28 May 1809 CAL * (3) William son of James and Ann bap 7 July 1811 CAL (4) Joseph son of James and Ann born 13 Jan. 1813 (5) John son of James and Ann b.c. 1815 (6) Anne daughter of James and Ann butcher of Calbourne bap 5 February 1814 CAL **(7) Mary daughter of James and Ann of Calbourne butcher bap 13 December 1818 CAL (8) Caroline daughter of James and Ann of Calbourne butcher bap 4 March 1821 CAL (8a) Caroline Jemima Anne, bap 26 March 1842 CAL. daughter of (8)Caroline and granddaughter of James(2), butcher of Calbourne. (8a) NOTES: (8)Caroline never married. (8a)Caroline J. A. married a LITTLE who was a Supervisor-Inland Revenue.
