    3. Sue When was your G Grandfather a Wharfinger (BRS)? Although BRS certainly does (or did) stand for British Road Services this is I believe post 1948 only. If this occupation is pre-1948 then there may be another meaning. I'm well & truly hooked on this family tree stuff, had a bit of a reality check & chill out more than burn out now! My Maternal Grandfather wasnt born on the Island, he moved there as a young baby with his Mother, she married & had a further 8 children. His name was CARDEN John Micheal & his siblings name was/is RALPH. My Maternal Grandmother was WARNE Norah Bermadine, one of 10. In the short time I've been working on my family tree I've managed to work as far back as my G.G.Grandfather WARNE (1st name Leonard c1845). My interests are - CARDEN RALPH WARNE & BUCKETT. Whilst listening in I've seen queries regarding occupations. I found this useful website when querying my G Grandfather's work (WHARFINGER) - www.gendocs.demon.co.uk One last request, G Grandfather was a wharfinger then in brackets (BRS) anyone know if it was a local employer, he was living in Pyle Street Newport most of his married life. bye for now from the mainland! ______________________________
