I can understand reasons for mispelling CLARKE/ CLARK for example but complete surname changes in LALLOW to LAWRENCE ( don't even sound the same ) would be more than a clerical error . Maybe that branch had something to hide :-) Something else I come across from time to time are those born before their parents are married and registered in mothers maiden name . They seem to keep the mothers maiden name all their life , even after their parents have married . That mucks up the family tree progame as well ( particulary males ) Angela
