    3. Hello everyone I have been reading the list since I joined some months ago, and am very impressed how helpful you all are. I am in need of assistance with tracing the parents of my great-great-grandfather JOHN FILLBROOK. He married JANE SAUNDERS (widow - formerly SALTER) in Brading on 29th Sept.1831. On the marriage record it stated John Fillbrook of Newchurch IoW. I have been unable to trace the birth of a John Fillbrook in the IoW through the IGI, only a John Philbrick in Essex in the correct year of 1807. On the 1841 census it shows John and Jane Fillbrook with 6 children living at St. Derwood Cottage, St. Helens, and states "all but John born in the County of Hants", John aged 30. John died on 2.12.1843 in Canada St Helens aged 36 (which would have made him 34 in 1841). On the childrens birth records his occupation was shown as "Porter". On the 1841 census it also showed Henry Fillbrook living with John's family, possibly his brother or cousin. The John Philbrook born in 1807 in Essex has a cousin Henry. Through the years the surname spelling changed several times and ended up as PHILBRICK. I have records of all the family from the marriage of John and Jane down to myself. Most of John and Jane's children moved to Gosport and Portsmouth in the late 1800's. If anyone can help me with where JOHN was born I would be most grateful. Here's hoping someone can help, with many thanks, Daphne Forder, Adelaide, Australia.
