Hi My name is Gill and I live in North Wales. My grandfather William Richard Henry LANE was born in St Mary Street, West Cowes on March 18th 1868. He later served in the Royal Navy. His siblings were:- Ada (unmarried) Alice married Arthur MULLET and emigrated to Australia abt. 1911 Newton married Mildred ROOKE Walter married Ellen WILTSHIRE Mary(died in childhood). His parents were:- William LANE born abt.1841 in the IOW. He was a carpenter/boatbuilder. Elizabeth Harding LANE (nee WARNE) born abt. 1841 in the IOW. I have found the family in the 1881 census living in Alverstoke nr Gosport but that is all the information I have managed to obtain. Can anyone help me to find out a bit more about my grandfather and his forebears. Gill
