Known children of this couple are Benjamin 1744 and Ann 1781, both born in Shalfleet. Ann HAYLES 1781 apparently also had a half brother, a William Hayles who is named as having given consent to her marriage by Licence on 11 June 1798 in Shalfleet to one John Barnes [See Ancestry Com. records]. The above William ? 1773 must therefore be the son of Thomas by a different marriage. I am hoping that the William abt. 1773 who consented to Ann's marriage is the elusive ancestor I have been seeking. Hoping someone has a connection to any of the above.
