Hi Liz. It could have something to do with the trade of Coachbuilding. Alternatively, you may have to look up trades & associations for the Freshwater area of I of W. for that period. Herbert ANTROBUS b. 1875 in Macclesfield Cheshire, moved to Derby and was an apprentice coachbuilder in 1891. In 1911 when he married in Freshwater he was a labourer. In 1937 when his daughter married he was a gas worker. RCA meaning Royal Collage of Art just doesn't seem to fit his history does it? Nor, frustratingly Royal Canadian Artillery, or Radio Corporation of America. Any other suggestions from the brilliant minds of those on this list? I haven't a clue what else it might be unless Herbert Antrobus went into the army/navy after 1891 (he was 15) and this explains how he ended up in Freshwater? -----Original Message----- From: Chris & Caroline [mailto:chris@chayles.freeserve.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, 12 August 2004 7:54 AM To: ISLE-OF-WIGHT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [IoW] re Meaning of RCA Normally if this comes after a name it means Royal College of Art.
