    3. Hello Pamela, according to the recent Osborne House guide Osborn in August 1774 had plans for alterations by the then owner Robert Pope Blachford (1742-1790), if you look on the A2A and type in ROBERT POPE BLACHFORD there is quite a bit on him to help you further. http://www.a2a.org.uk/search/index.asp Also in the book East Cowes and Whippingham 1303-1914 by Rosetta Brading the author writes that in 1640 "Eustace Mann captain of the East Medina boats ,upon firing of the beacons he to cause boats of the East Medina to repair to Hurst Castle for the transport of troops from the mainland." "In 1642 Capt Eustace Mann was paying tax for property in Whippingham." "In 1647 Eustace Mann merchant of Austborne (Osborne)" "In 1650 Marriage settlement Eustace Mann of Osborne and wife Christian -farm at Osborne, two messuages and 480 acres of land." "In 1653 Eustace Mann-will proved by son Eustace" "1664 Hearth Tax introduced,Mr Eustace Mann paying for 7 hearths at Osborne" "1665 Eustace Mann paying for hearths at Osborne" "1672 Eustace Mann of Whippingham died Merston buried Whippingham" "1673 Capt Mann now John Brigg paying hearth tax for 8 hearths at Osborne" "1674 John Brigg still paying for 8 hearth tax at Osborne" hope you find this useful regards Andrea. _________________________________________________________________ http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/msnnkmgl0010000002ukm/direct/01/
