I have a report of a murder from newspaper of Saturday, March 2, 1861. A John LACEY (not one of mine) Murdered his wife Jane at the old farm house on the 10th… a Susan WILDAY ( was living at the farm) was a niece of the deceased woman who was an accessory after the fact,………..both were formally charged & the trial to take place at Winchester. Lacey is a powerfully-built man, about 50 years & WILDAY the niece is upper of 40 years of age, the deceased as stated by Dr OlLLARD to be quite 70 years There is a death in Ryde, Jane LACEY 1861age 63. >From “The Times” a full & interesting report on the trial states that a it was Henry LACEY & murder was on the 17th February St Helen’s , the niece was Susan WILHAY & the surgeon is J. F. OLLARD, other names mentioned were, Priscilla YOUNG, William RUSSEL, Frederick NICHOLAS, Broom PINNIGER, William KING, SMITH, George CATHPOLL, Mr COLE, Mr Justice WELLES.
