However I am now looking for the Mann family Eustace Mann was the orginal owner of Osbourne House and was inhereted by his granddaughter Elizabeth Mann B 1652 she married a Robert Blachford, if anyone can help with this family or researching the Mann, Blachford names I would be pleased to hear from you. Pamela, You will find some Wills that are probably of interest to you at the The National Archive (TNA/Kew) website: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/default.htm Select the Wills section link Before 1858 link Documents online link Select the Advance Search (not the quick search) Put whatever names you are interested in (note use 'Man' not 'Mann') and 'Isle of Wight' as the location, you will find Wills for both MAN and BLACHFORD that appear to be ones you may be interested in (incl Robert Balchford 1720) You can download copies for £3-50 and my experience is that the image quality is very good but it is in Old English so you would need some sort of reference book to decipher some of the characters, the TNA has a section on Old English that may help. Also many IoW documents are held at Hampshire RO (not Newport) and they have a database called CALM: http://calm.hants.gov.uk/DServeA/search.htm that you can use to search, it's not too sophisticated so if you get too many hits try setting the 'And' button on the 'Combine words in fields' and then adding 'isle' to the search list which then ususlly limits the results to IoW. John does cover some of his family's history starting on page 98.
