    3. Hi Jon, Thank you very much for all the interesting info you found, very kind of you I couldn't find the farm on my maps either, but there was also a Charlotte CORNEY who lived near Henry LACEY & William RUSSEL lived 16 yards from him. The verdict of the trial at Winchester, (in the report I have) Henry LACEY was found guilty of manslaughter, (he liked a drink & a game of bed hopping!) he was sentenced to "six years penal servitude", no mention of any trial for Susan, I have sent the image to you, makes very fascinating reading Best wishes Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jon Baker" <[email protected]> To: "'Ann Ryder'" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2008 12:12 PM Subject: RE: [IoW] Jane Lacey murdered near Ryde > Hi Ann > Looking at the 1851 census Henry and Jane Lacey, husband and wife, were > recorded at "Oldhouse Farm", in the parish of St Helens (Class: HO107; > Piece: 1664; Folio: 326; Page: 18). 3. Hi Jon, Just to let you know I have found some more reports, Susan did not go to trial, "Susan Wilday bill ignored ", March 9, 1861 And in another report February 8, 1871"Henry Lacy a farmer residing at Old House Farm, (well done Jon) he came in to "a considerable sum money when he married, he is the son of a labouring man in the neighbourhood" (Thomas Lacey age 80 Farmer Retired), Henry LACEY married Jane TEMPLE 14 JUL 1841 All Saints, Birmingham, Warwick, Susanna WILDAY was born 25 FEB 1817 Saint Phillips, Birmingham, Warwick, daughter of Frederick WILDAY & Mary TEMPLE In another case Henry was a witness for Thomas Lacy (his brother? Who had a daughter in -law Elizabeth Lacy) accused of stealing mangel wurzel, (root vegetable) Henry said "I am a carrier & rent several fields...... the chairman asked have you been convicted? - no answer. - Mr Seely: Have you been convicted of manslaughter?-no answer- Mr Seely: Were you not convicted of manslaughter of your wife?-"witness: I have served my time. I have not come here for that. I was convicted & served five or six years in prison. Jon sent me this, Free BMD Marriages Jun 1866: Lacy Henry Birmingham. Wilday Susan Birmingham So it looks like that Susan Wilday returned home, & when Henry came out of prison they married & went back to the IOW. IOW death index, LACY Henry 1876 66 Ryde. Thank you Angela I don't think it was planed it was done in a drunken rage.
