Hi All I am so excited...I can hardly contain myself. After 3 years of looking and nearly giving up several times, I have finally found my GG Grandfather John Matthias Jones. I received his death certificate today. He died at 9 Trinity Terrace Ventnor Isle of Wright on 12th May 1879 in the presence of his daughter Ann Maria Wright of Hendon. He was 70 years old. Occupation is "warehouseman" which is nearly the same as his occupation on the 1861 census - "silk warehouseman". Now...comes the next puzzle. What was he doing on the Isle of Wright when his wife was living with their daughter and son-in-law in Hendon? Where was he between the years 1861 and 1879?
