Janet Whilst Prince Albert certainly designed the present day Osborne House in East Cowes in conjunction with builder Thomas Cubitt, this was not the original. Victoria and Albert originally purchased the estate and existing house in 1844 from Isabella Blachford and it was then demolished and rebuilt between 1845 and 1851.
