    3. Dear List - hoping that someone can help me get past a roadblock that has stumped me for a good two years or more now. Charles KINGSWELL (b.13th Apr 1834 in Godshill) married Mary Ann HADDNEY (his second wife) in Ventnor on 29th Feb 1872. I have a copy of the marriage certificate. On that certificate, Mary's age is given as "full" and she is noted as the daughter of Henry HADDNEY. Her residence at the time of wedding is shown as Kingston on Thames. Mary Ann HADDNEY shows as 36 years old on the 1881 census living at 29 Mill St Ventnor 46 years old on the 1891 census living at Southcliff, Niton 56 years old on the 1901 census living at Eleanor House, Grove Road Ventnor All of these point to a birth date around 1845. All of the census entries reflect her place of birth as Tiverton. (N.B in two of the census returns she is referred to as Ann, one as Mary). I also have a copy of her death certificate (1901) which also quotes an age of 56 So, to the point and where I am hoping for some inspiration. Despite all this evidence pointing me towards her birth being around 1845, I am unable to find any birth record anywhere in the UK for a Mary Ann HADDNEY (indeed any HADDNEY or HADNEY or other spelling derivation I could come up with) from 1837 through to 1855. I've tried everything I can think of, but without success and am close to giving up. I cannot find anything on any of the usual internet sites (free or with subscription) nor have I had any success with the local registrars. Does anyone have any suggestions where else I might be able to find anything out, or does someone actually have the same lady in their tree with any further details? I really would appreciate any thoughts/comments. Best regards, Paul
