The charged left a watch behind in the said drawer wher ethe money was taken from and a 5 pound note. The defrendant was scene by several persons gpoing towards the complainants house, it is well known he has lived 2 years without any apparent means, suspicions were soon afloat as to the probability of who was the likely thief. In a day or two he absconded, and through a descritpion in the police gazette, he was apprehended at Southampton, in company with two streee nymphs. Only a few shillings were found on him, no evidence was elicited to induce the Bench to commit him to trial.
