Nothing under Calbourne in Kokeritz's Placenames of the Isle of Wight but he had Coppidthorn or Copperthorn surviving as a field name on the Brighstone tithe map - means lopped or pollarded thorn bush. Brighstone and Calbourne were adjoining parishes and manors and much of both parishes came under the manor of Swainston for which records survive at the Isle of Wight Record Office.
