Hi John In the 1851 Census Index there is a William HILLS aged 25 years born Arreton, Isle of Wight. (HO/107/1663 pg 488) I don't have the census only the index so can't pinpoint where exactly he is living other than Arreton. It appears that the following HILLS people are also on the same census page. Elizabeth aged 56 born Mottistone Fanny aged 16 born Arreton Frederick aged 15 born Arreton Henry aged 23 born Arreton Robert aged 57 born Arreton Walter aged 18 born Arreton Also in Ryde there is another William HILLS this time aged 28 years (HO/107/1664 pg 159). On the same census page there are the following HILLS people. Caroline age 30 born Godshill William aged 2 born Ryde I can't find any other references to a William HILLS around this age in the rest of the index. Hope this helps.
