Barnabas BRADING, drunk and disorderly and assaulting his wife bound to keep the peace and fined 4s RYDE James HART and Charles BOARD, two able bodied vagrants charged with begging in the town, committed to Winchester for 21 days hard labour Frederick HOWE & James REYNOLDS, 2 boys, charged with wilfully damaging a fence belonging to Mr WOODROW, fined 5s William TAYLOR, for vagrancy, discharged and reprimanded Henry COOMBES of Brading , an old offender for being drunk and disorderly in Ryde, committed to Bridewell for 6 weeks hard labour ------------ 14 Dec 1852 William BARNET ( better known as Pinnafore Billy) , obtaining money under false pretences, 3 months hard labour and for ill treating his wife ordered to provide a surety and to keep the peace for 12 months ( love to know how he got his alias name ) John HOSKIN, drunk and disorderly , discharged John SPENDER, drunk and disorderly and resisting arrest, fined 5s and 5s costs, paid for by wife George BRADING, boy of 12 convicted for breaking a gap hurdle and stealing wood, fined 1s and 6s in damages. Jane STAY girl of 15, stealing from her master Mr Roach, a pen knife and a cambric handkerchief, fined 15s and in default 14 days in prison Edward BARTON, theft of two fowls, property of Mr Roach, discharged Inquest of a Margaret DAY ( wife of John ) quite a long one if anyone wants a copy. Died from a bowel obstruction but local medical officer also charged with negligence Charles MUSSELL, drunk and disorderly fined 7s or 7 days in prison Charles BUSHELL, theft of turnip greens, fined 1s and allowed 8 days to pay or 8 days in prison Births, Deaths and Marriages for the period ending Dec 31st 1851 Newport 100 Births, 80 deaths Ryde 112 Births, 108 deaths Calbourne 40 births, 37 deaths Cowes 65 births, 44 deaths Godshill 65 births, 44 deaths Showing only 72 more births than deaths, which is much below the average Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.
