Verdict : Natural Causes James COOPER theft of 5 turnips fined 5s Harriet PHILLIPS committed to trial at the assizes charged with stealing 3s the property of Ellen GUTTERIDGE William LAMBERT - cruelty to a horse fines 1/ and 7s costs - paid Henry BLOW - A Ventnor carrier charged with cruelty to a horse fined same as above , paid Wallgrave BURLEIGH - theft of turnip greens committed to prison for 7 day's Henry HADLEY - breaking a fence at Brading fined 5/ & 10s in costs or default Winchester Gaol for 2 months hard labour. Also found guilty with James RASHLEY, of breaking windows belonging to Mr HARDY of Brading, fined 1s and 10d costs. Rashley paid, Edward WEBB assault on James MIDLANE, settled out of court. Richard MATTHEWS summoned to show why he refused to pay the pavement .....(can't read the word) ordered to pay 6 Jan 1855 INQUEST - Matilda HALLETT found dead in her bed, deceased subject to fits and she was found face down. ' died of suffocation' Alfred JOBBIN , a youth , trifling assault on Morris JEFFERY of East Cowes fined 1s Thomas REASON of the ' Brown Jug' - fined for keeping his house open after hours 1s and 5s in costs , paid William BLOW , retailer of beer likewise and fined same and paid William TAYLOR, labourer , disorderly conduct and assaulting police fined 20s and in default 14 days in prison William PRAGNELL, lic beer retailer, fined 2/ and 7s costs for not affording proper accommodation for a recruit who had been billeted to him , paid. John DENTON, theft of 4 fowl and 1 drake committed to stand trial John DAISH , poaching on the estate of Sir John Oglander, fined 5s and 7s costs Angela Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.
