Hello everyone My name is Steve Harrison and my wife is Lynn (formerly Hollis). We have recently turned our family researches to Lynn's family who were primarily Northwood Hollises. As we are quite new to this we would welcome any guidance or information from the seasoned researchers out there. We have established the tree back to Daniel Hollis 1795 - 1850 and possibly William Hollis as his father. If anyone out there could spare the time to drop us a line about extending our research we would both be very grateful. Would you have a Mary Ann HOLLIS b 1823 Northwood who married a John Attrill in your tree? Her mother is Ann UNKNOWN HOLLIS b. 1793 Hunts IOW, husband unknown at this time. Ann also had a son named Daniel John b. 1841 b, Hunts IOW. Dear Cynthia, & Steve and Lyn, I will add a small contribution to the Hollis discussion - it may or may not help. In the 1881 census my great grandmother Elizabeth Duffield (nee Pinhorn) was listed as lodging with John Hollis, Master Mariner, and his wife. This John Hollis may well have been the son of James Hollis and Elizabeth Pinhorn both of Northwood who married 13th June 1816 and thus related to "my" Elizabeth. I believe Hollis was a well known IOW name. So there are a couple of pieces for your jigsaw!! Happy hunting Mary Legge
