Guess who I found by accident? 5 Feb 1853 Hampshire Telegraph INQUEST An Inquisition was taken at the 'Fountain Tap' West Cowes, on Friday Sep 24th, before F Blake Esq, on the body of Solomon DUNFORD, of Pallance, near Tinker's Lane, age 33, leaving a wife and three children. From the evidence it appeared, that on the previous Saturday night deceased had been drinking at the "Crown' Beer shop, High St, West Cowes; that he had occasion to leave for a purpose of nature, when he was directed to a slip way near 'Fountain Inn', he said he should return, leaving part of his ale, but was never again seen alive. It was stated in evidence that the night was dark and there were no rails on the Fountain Quay, that persons had often accidentally walked over the Quay and fallen in to the sea. William Edmunds found the body of the deceased in the eater ' he had on all his clothes with exception of his hat' Verdict Accidental drowning A subscription purse was taken up for his widow and children.
