Hello Angela, According to "Ancestral Trails" by Mark Herber in the section on Parish Registers: 'If a child was privately baptised, he or she should been "received" or "admitted" into the church by a later ceremony'. Private baptism was at another place, say the parent's home if the child was too ill to be at the church. regards, Eve ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter & Angela McMurtry" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2008 10:22 AM Subject: [IoW] 'Admitted' - Bap > Can anyone tell me what the term 'admitted' means on bap records ? > Angela in Oz > > > > Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the > pig. > > All mail scanned with AVAST 2008 > No trees were killed in the sending of this message, > but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced > > > > ************************************** > You can contact the Isle of Wight List Administrator by emailing: > [email protected] > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message
