Hello, I also have an Elizabeth CASS bc 1823, and like Ros' Elizabeth she has given various places of birth on the census returns - we have Arreton, just to the south in Godshill, a bit further south again in Niton and also Stockbridge (which seems to be between Godshill and Niton). She is my x2 great-grandmother, m James GUY in 1853 in Newchurch. We believe her parents were probably Thomas b Whitwell c 1797 and Hannah poss nee BLOW. More research needed there! Elizabeth had an illegitimate daughter (also Elizabeth CASS, sometime GUY, m George COOPER) bc 1846, and a further five "GUY" children.
