Good morning everyone, If anyone is going to the IoW Records Office in the next while would it be possible to check a couple of births for me please. My GG Grandmother was Hannah DIBBENS, born on the IoW at Newport on 4 March 1847, and she was also known as Ann or Annie at various times. I know she had my G Grandmother Sophia out of wedlock on 23 October 1878 before she married William WHEELER, who appears to have been Sophia's father, on 7 October 1880. I have just come across a number of births to a single mother whose surname was Dibbens while doing some searching on the IoW FHS website and would like to know whether my Hannah/Ann was their mother. William WHEELER's first wife died in 1868 on the IoW and all of these births occured after that and I have my suspicions that William may have been the father if Hannah was the mother. Unfortunately all of them died shortly after birth so this seems to be the only way to find out who their mother was. The births I seek information about are - Louisa Annie DIBBENS b 1869 Calbourne d 1869 Calbourne at 1 week Hannah DIBBENS b 1873 Calbourne d 1873 Calbourne at 2 days Susan DIBBENS b 1875 Calbourne d 1875 Calbourne at 7 weeks Emily Matilda DIBBENS b 1877 Calbourne d 1877 Calbourne at 5 months Any help that anyone could offer would be very much appreciated.
