Hello All, I am the lady in Washington helping April and, yes, I have checked the 1930 census for her. I appreciate any suggestions anyone may have for finding Dora after she married. Even her husband, David CLIFFORD, does not appear in the 1930 census. New York is notoriously difficult for finding death records if you don't know exactly when and where the person died. I live 3000 miles from New York so am not able to check the New York State Archives in Albany or County records in Westchester County where I suspect she died. Another consideration is that they divorced before 1920. It was very common for persons to claim to be "widowed" on the census when, in fact, they were divorced and didn't want to suffer the stigma. Is there anyone on this list who lives in New York who may have access to this information? Dora most likely died in the Bedford, Westchester County, New York area. I have checked www.Find-a-Grave.com as well as www.interment.net with no success. I have considered that she may have died in child birth but there were no children living with her husband in the 1920 census. Also, remember the entire world was suffering with the flu pandemic at that time so she may have died from the flu. Again, if anyone has any suggestion for areas to search further for her please let me know and I will do my best. Although I have a lovely lady in Washington who has been helping me, there is nothing like descendants to fill in the gaps. I have Dora Constance May Scovell born 1889 Whitwell/Godshill,who emigrated to live in the New York area. I now have her marriage certificate to a Clifford as they were married in Bedford, Westchester , New York.1916, but it appears from the 1920 census that her husband was a widow by then. Maybe there is someone who knows what happened to her or whether there were any children from that marriage? Her younger brother was Percical Henry John born 1904 Whitwell. Another was Frederick Frank born 1902. Their parents were Daniel Frank Scovell and Clara nee Morris Thank you and kind regards. April nee Morris New Forest. --Forwarded Message Attachment-- From: van.m@o2.co.uk To: adale41@googlemail.com; isle-of-wight@rootsweb.com Date: Wed, 23 Dec 2009 21:07:36 +0000 Subject: Re: [IoW] SCOVELL Hello April, I'm not related, but wondered whether you knew that Dora came back to England in 1913.
