I have Dora Constance May Scovell born 1889 Whitwell/Godshill,who emigrated to live in the New York area. I now have her marriage certificate to a Clifford as they were married in Bedford, Westchester , New York.1916, but it appears from the 1920 census that her husband was a widow by then. Maybe there is someone who knows what happened to her or whether there were any children from that marriage? Her younger brother was Percical Henry John born 1904 Whitwell. Ship SS Majestic, White Star Line Arrived Southampton 8 June 1913. She may have returned to New York in December of the same year: Details from Outgoing Passenger Lists on Find My Past Doris SCOVELL dob 1889 Waitress 2nd Class Embarked Southampton, Destination New York Last place of residence - England, Intended place of permanent residence - USA Ship St. Paul, American Line Departed Southampton 6 December 1913 I think Doris maybe a mis transcription by the ship's steward? Has your contact checked the 1930 USA census for her as Dora CLIFFORD (failing that she may have gone to Canada)? Unfortunately, I only have UK subscriptions, so can't check for you.
