Thank you Cecilia & Ann, I appreciate your help. I think the "godfather" idea is probably the right one, It was also interesting to read about the Vine Inn in those 2 sources (luckily I do have the CD of the back copies of the journal.) It would seem that the old building was demolished before 1870 and Thomas Sa(u)nders transferred the name and licence to 16 Castle St. He couldn't have been there long as I have his probable death as 1871. Apparently he was also a builder and is credited with building the Victoria Arcade in Union St. Thank you, also, Roy - I have tried the IGI for Lavinia in the past with no success and have only recently become aware of the HUMBER connection. I was able to find the reference to the marriage of Edward WILLIAMS to Mary HUMBER but I could not find Sarah Humber WILLIAMS' baptism. I'm not sure where I could have gone wrong?
