Does anyone have any info about the OWEN family in early 1800's? This is all I know about my Owen forbears:- 1) from Census details ; my Gt Gt Grandmother MARY nee OWEN was born c1825 in Carisbrook 2) from Census details ; her mother, ELEANOR, was born in Newport c1805 3) from Eleanor's Death Cert she was described as a 'Widow of THOMAS OWEN, gentleman' this last description is vague but quite tantalising, but I have failed to find any trace of Thomas, only an 'Edward Owen, Ind' in the sketchy 1841 Carisbrook census. Mary and her mother Eleanor both later settled in Norfolk, England - presumably after Thomas had died? c1850's? At present it's not easy for me to travel to research OPR in Newport so any clues would be welcome! Sue (IoWFHS Member 2904)
