Hello List, My fellow Dyer researchers perhaps you can answer a question that has been put to me. This is the information I have on my DYER tree Levi DYER b. 1833, Shalfleet was the son of Henry DYER and Sarah JACOBS marrying Matilda Jane BAKER. Levi DYER b. 1827, bap. July 12, 1827, Godshill son of William DYER and Harriett WARNE. It has been suggested I have the wrong information and that Levi b. 1827 was the one who married Matilda and not Levi b. 1833. St Helens (HO/107/1664 page 356 DYER Harriett aged 53 yrs born Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight DYER Jane aged 16 yrs born St Helens DYER Levi aged 23 yrs born Godshill DYER William aged 10 yrs born St Helens DYER William aged 53 yrs born Shalfleet Following on from that I checked out the 1901 census online which gives you limited access to the other census returns and have found this info.... 1861 DYER Levi aged 37 yrs living Calbourne DYER Levi aged 43 yrs living Ryde DYER Matilda aged 29 yrs living Ryde DYER Matilda aged 34 yrs living Newport 1871 DYER Levi aged 37 yrs living Calbourne DYER Levi aged 43 yrs living Ryde DYER Matilda aged 39 yrs living Ryde DYER Matilda aged 44 yrs living Newport 1891 DYER Matilda aged 59 yrs living Ryde DYER Matilda aged 64 yrs living Calbourne (DYER Levi does not appear online in 1891) 1901 DYER Levi aged 67 Yrs born Shalfleet, living Chale, working as an Agricultural Labourer DYER Matilda aged 68 yrs born Bembridge, living St Helens DYER Matilda aged 74 yrs born Isle of Wight, living Calbourne Plus in the 1881 Census Levi DYER aged 47 yrs born Shalfleet is listed as living with his mother (aged 82 yrs, born Brook, Isle of Wight) in Town Lane, Chale. He was also recorded as being unmarried and working as a labourer. (reference FHL 1341290 RG11/1186/31/3) Also in the 1881 Census..... DYER Levi aged 55 yrs born Fairfields, Isle of Wight (labourer) DYER Jane (wife) aged 48 yrs born Bembridge DYER Alfred (son) aged 25 yrs born St Helens (coachman) DYER Levi (son) aged 21 yrs born St Helens (horse driver, agricultural labourer) DYER Louis (son) aged 16 yrs born St Helens (cowboy) DYER Walter (son) aged 13 yrs born St Helens (coachman) DYER Leonard (son) aged 11 yrs born St Helens DYER Matilda (dau) aged 9 yrs born St Helens (scholar) DYER Annie (dau) aged 7 yrs born St Helens (scholar) DYER Rowland (son) aged 4 yrs born St Helens DYER Rosina (g.dau) aged 8 yrs born St Helens (scholar This family group were living in West Green, St Helens (reference FHL 1341289 or RG11 /1181/91/5). Is this Jane actually Matilda Jane BAKER? Hope this helps.
