    3. Hi Phil, No one seems to have replied to your enquiry so I'll throw in my ten-cents worth. I'm not researching Fleming but I am interested in the List brothers, shipbuilders, who in 1809 leased land at Fishbourne, IOW, for a shipbuilding yard from the Fleming family of Stoneham Park near Southampton. The family were the descendants of Thomas Fleming, son of a Newport mercer, who was Lord Chief Justice under Elizabeth I and James I. I have some information on this family which in the 19th century owned most of the parish of Binstead in which Fishbourne is located.. Harry Willis Fleming, a descendant, runs an excellent website - The Willis Fleming Historical Trust. I also have in my files Michael Fleming, parents unknown, who married Joan Walker in Victoria, Australia, in 1952. I also have two IOW Rogers - Jenny Rogers, parents unknown, m. Thomas Joliffe in the IOW in 1731 - Mary Rogers, parents unknown, who m. James Brain in Portsea, Hants, in 1791. James Brain was connected to the Fishbourne Lists. Good hunting, Peter Gawn Sechelt, B.C., Canada. Hello Isle of Wight listers, I am wondering who currently is researching the FLEMING family of Godshill/Roude area. At the head of my tree is John Fleming bn about 1729 who was a Yeoman of Roude. He married Mary ROGERS in 1754 at Godshill. I have never been able to find anything further back than John's assumed birthdate so I thought it might be a good time to ask the List if anyone else is researching this family which traces to me via my mother, her father having been born at Godshill at Sheepwash Farm.
