Hi to all on the List We are currently trying to research our Attrill/Drudge line of descent. This has led us to a family link to a gent who married (his 3rd wife) one of the Drudge family who we believe has a link to our lineage. Trying to establish which Mills were operating in 1881 at Carisbrooke as this chap lived at 19 Carisbrooke Road on the Census and was stated to be a Mill Manager. We realise there was a Westminster Mill a Pan Mill a Carisbrooke Forge Mill and a Blackwater Mill but since we do not know if any of the sites were operating as a working Mill then, we wonder if someone else does? Perhaps someone may know if there will be employment records for such a Mill - assuming it will be a Mill which is very local to Carisbrooke Road? Thanks in anticipation John & Angela Attrill _________________________________________________________________ Send us your Hotmail stories and be featured in our newsletter http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/195013117/direct/01/
John and Angela My Tee family have associations with Pan Mill, Newport. John Tee (1821-1904) was the miller there, I believe the mill manager. His grandson, Frederick William Tee (1888-1925) married Beatrice Grace Drudge. However as I understand it, Fred only married once. They had one son (also Fred) who died as an infant. An earlier generation (again a John Tee) were millers at the Carisbrooke mill (the one at the bottom of Castle Street.), and then at Brixton/Brighstone. It would be interesting to find out if there are any connections. There used to be a PDF Newport mill trail walk available here: http://www.island2000.org.uk/downloads/milltrail.pdf, but it's now disappeared. (Perhaps you'll have better luck than me retrieving it from the Internet Archive.)
