Kate and list The mills in and around Newport were: 1 Clatterford Paper Mill 2 Carisbrooke Mill 3 Priory Mill (also Carisbrooke) - where the water company pumping station is 4 Tannery (now Tannery Place) 5 West Mill (junction Carisbooke and Wellington Roads) 6 Westminster Mill (Westminster Place) 7 Home Mill (junction Petticoat Lane and Mill street) 8 Towngate Mill (bottom St James Street 9 St Cross Mill (Crocker Street) 10 Mew Langton Brewery (Crocker Street) 11 Ford Mill (bottom of Pyle Street) 12 Pan Mill 14 Lower Shide Mill 15 Upper Shide Mill 16 Blackwater Mill 17 Gatcombe Mill Which I got from a free little book from the Newport Museum called The Mill Trail. It used to be available as a PDF on the Island 2000 web site, but sadly no more. If anyone's interested, I could email scans of the maps.
