I believe that the Charles Morris you refer to is Charles Young MORRIS (1856) Atherfield (or Brook ) son of Henry MORRIS and Frances Jane YOUNG of Mottistone. Frances b. Brightstone. Charles m. Elizabeth PITMAN and his brother Leonard married Elizabeth's sister Mary Ann. Daughters of William and Harriet PITMAN (cousins) of Hampstead/Shalfleet. Charles is my wife's Great Grandfather. The families moved to Compton Cottages (1881) and then in to Freshwater at Middleton also living at Sheepwash Farm in 1890 where grandmother Kate MORRIS was born. Here is a link to a searchable database with a small number of MORRIS events. http://www.oldgitsonline.co.uk/default.php They are mostly from my dynasty of MORRIS and from a small area around Yafford, Sutton, and Brightstone. Angela mentioned a Charles MORRIS from Atherfield which rings a huge bell in my mind but having looked I can't find any reference to in my records. As I type this I seem to remember that Atherfield was the site of some Coast Guard Cottages? Hi Ian Eizabeth Jane shows up on the IOWFHS Births as Jane I think. There was an older brother Geoorge Henry YOUNG (1849)who was born before parents married and then my records show Elizabeth Jane (1853) then Charles and Leonard followed by Rose (1862) Herbert (1866) and Fanny (1869). Elizabeth is there on the 1861 census aged 8 but has gone by 1871. I have noticed multiple baptisms in the family so to baptise Elizabeth age 3 at the same time as her younger brother is not unusual. 1861 records Elizabeth as being born in Carisbrook other childen being born in Chale, Shorwell and Fanny in Ryde so they obviosly moved about a bit.
